While not adhering to Western sanctions against Russia, Kazakhstan has begun to detain Russian trucks carrying goods sanctioned by the European Union, asking drivers to present permits to demonstrate the lawfulness of transport

In addition, the country's largest bank (Halyk Bank) has stopped accepting cards from the Russian payment system Mir, following the example of Turkey and Vietnam. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also published an article in Politico. Programmatic not only in content (strengthening the democratic system and overcoming the "super-presidential" model, international cooperation and liberal policies) but also in the choice of the newspaper, which lays bare the Western nature of the referent of the message.

After Turkey, Vietnam and Kazakhstan, Armenia also  stops accepting payment cards from the Russian Mir circuit. The measure is being taken following Ally Russia's failure to respond to Armenia's recent request for military support to contain Azerbaijan's war assertiveness. The domino effect on Russian payment systems does not seem to stop.
