PISIE

The International Polytechnic for Industrial and Economic Development (PISIE) is a NGO specialised in technical support, training and cooperation projects in the leather sector, and leather products in general. PISIE was born in 1977 and its head quarters are in Vigevano. During time, it develloped a solid cooperation experience with a number of international bodies, such as UNIDO, ITC, CDE, the World Bank and others, specialising in projecting centres of applied technology, schools and laboratories of industrial integration and training courses. PISIE works through a permanent staff, of national and international consultants, ach of these have decades of experience in specific sectors, working closely together with Assomac.

PAKISTAN: Creation and implementation of a Service Technology Centre for the Footwear sector in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. The available facilities for companies are two laboratories: modelling & cutting and physical/mechanical tests. The Centre is managing by the Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association PFMA with whom ASSOMAC can count on a lung run collaboration.

PAKISTAN: the project goal is the design and creation of a DESIGN HUB, in the heart of Footwear cluster the city of Lahore and setting up under a PPP model (Public Private Partnership). The Design HUB wants to address the following needs: • to enhance the requested skills for Design and style in footwear • to boost Strategic marketing and marketing services in Pakistan companies • to increase competences in making domestic shoe collections targeting for export • to increase the provision of managerial and networking skills for the Footwear Cluster management. The Design HUB is developed in cooperation with UNIDO and PFMA (Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association) con UNIDO.

PAKISTAN: ASSOMAC is appointed to carry on a benchmarking study of the Footwear Lahore cluster against other worldwide footwear clusters. The study is encompassed in a working group of four other Pakistan industrial clusters.

ITALIA: The research and development project, launched in September 2019 and with a total duration of 36 months, has among the primary objectives the development of new families of leathers, for automotive, footwear and leather goods, through innovative approaches, both in relation to the production processes used, with particular reference to the use of chrome-free tanning systems, and to the use of adequate automation and control systems, both in relation to the identification of nanotechnologies for functionalization and improvement of product performance The Project also envisages the development of targeted strategies for the enhancement of production waste, with solutions that include their innovative reuse.

INDIA: the project wanted to Improve waste management in the Kolkata tanning sector with two-pronged approach: reduction of the effluent and solid waste levels to reduce the environmental burden,  waste  management  menace  and improve workers’ conditions and (b) recycling or re-use of waste into useful by-products to generate  additional  livelihood  opportunities. This implies the adoption by tanneries of new green  technologies  and tanning  processes  and improved waste management practices.   Starting date: 01.09.2020 duration 48 months.
