Smart boots with robotic technology

Miguel Hernández University (UMH) in Elche, Alicante, has joined forces in a project to develop a smart intervention shoe using robotic technologies and artificial intelligence.

The project, after three years of work, culminated in the development of boots that facilitate mobility and significantly reduce fatigue and energy consumption.

The boots were developed in direct collaboration with end users, such as firefighters from the Diputación de Alicante Fire Department Park.

The commercialization of this innovative prototype is still awaiting the approval of a specific regulation for robotic systems of this type.

Currently, contact is being established with certification and standardization committees at the European level to work out the necessary regulations. The process could take a couple of years, during which time the boots are expected to be ready to enter the market. According to the experts involved, this process could take a few years.
