London rejects China chip deal

Britain blocked the sale of a Welsh semiconductor plant to a Chinese-owned company on national security grounds. The ruling ends months of back-and-forth over the deal, which triggered British fears over technology transfer to China. The plant is one of Britain’s few semiconductor sites. Chips have become a geopolitical battleground between the U.S. and China, with Washington looking to curb Beijing’s access to advanced technology and restrict its growing power in the process. The dispute has drawn in countries such as Britain, as well as the Netherlands and Japan, home to key chokepoints in the semiconductor supply chain.
