Complete recovery of Brazilian exports

Observing the recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, @Abicalcados announces that footwear exports have already increased by 35% compared to the pre-pandemic period.  [Exportações de calçados já aumentaram 35% em relação à pré-pandemic - Abicalçados]

 

 

The Brazilian footwear industry celebrates the good results in footwear exports. According to data processed by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries (Abicalçados), 97.57 million pairs were shipped between January and August, generating 880.88 million dollars, an increase of 29.7% in volume and 62.7% in turnover compared to the same period last year. In relation to the same interval inthe   pre-pandemic period, in 2019 the increases are 29.4% in pairs and 35.6% in revenues generated. Separating the month of August alone, 10.7 million pairs were shipped for $117.43 million, the best monthly result of 2022. The growth compared to last August is 15% in volume and 50.4% in turnover. The executive chairman of Abicalçados, Haroldo Ferreira, assesses that Latin American countries continue to be decisive for performance, with an emphasis on Chile, which is consolidating itself as the fourth destination for Brazilian footwear abroad. "Brazil is gaining a lot of space in Chile. Today we are the fourth largest supplier of shoes in that country," he assesses. In addition to the increase in exports to Latin America, Ferreira points out that the average price of Brazilian footwear has also increased, from just over $8 US to $11 US. "There is an increase in international demand for footwear, and at this time of weakening china's gradual growth as a
major player in the industry, the world turns its eyes to the Brazilian product, as we have the largest footwear industry outside of Asia and the production capacity to serve the international market," comments the executive.

Destination
Main destination for Brazilian footwear abroad, in August the United States imported 1.34 million pairs of green and yellow, for which 38 million US$ were paid, volume stability and revenues up 57% compared to the same month of 2021 From January to August 14.35 million pairs were shipped,  generating 246.3 million US dollars, an increase in both volume (+57.2%) and turnover (+84.6%) compared to the same period last year. The second destination for Brazilian footwear continues to be Argentina, despite the internal crisis and the resolution of the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) that modifies access to the Single Exchange Market for the payment of imports and that unlocks payments for imported goods only after 180 days. In August, the brothers imported 1.5 million pairs for $17.6 million, an 8.4% drop in volume and a 49.7% increase in revenue compared to the same month last year. In the eight months of 2022 there were shipped 11.7 million pairs, generating 127.42 million US dollars, an increase both in volume (+50.9%) and in revenues (+84%) compared to the same range of 2021.La third destination of Brazilian footwear in 2022 is France, which in August imported 166,350 pairs, which generated 2.8 million dollars,  down 55.2% and 44.4% respectively compared to the same period last year. Cumulatively, the French imported 5 million pairs for US$43.7 million, up 15% in volume and 11.4% in turnover compared to the corresponding range in 2021. The main exporter of footwear to Brazil follows Rio Grande do Sul, from where, between January and August, 29.16 million pairs departed, which generated US$ 413.95 million, an increase of 50.2% and 72.6% respectively compared to the same period of the previous year. Immediately after appears Ceará, which between January and August exported 28.58 million pairs for 182 million US$, with an increase of 26.7% in volume and 43% in turnover compared to the same period of 2021.   the fourth place among footwear exporters is São Paulo (7 million pairs and $90.14 million, up 29% and 55.6% compared to the same period in 2021) and Minas Gerais (9.47 million pairs and $58.44 million, up 43% and 87% from the corresponding period last year). Between


January and August, imports of footwear were 18.4 million pairs and 234.3 million US dollars, up 20.7% in volume and 10.4% in revenues compared to the same period of 2021. The main origins were Vietnam (5 million pairs and 106.17 million US dollars, decreases of 17.7% and 13.2% respectively compared to 2021), Indonesia (2 million pairs and 40.27 million US$, increases of 12% and 23%) and China (8.6 million pairs and 35.13 million US$, increases of 55.2% and 54.4%).In footwear parts - uppers, soles, heels, insoles, etc. - accumulated imports amount to 18.94 million dollars, and the main origins are China, Vietnam and Paraguay. Consult HERE
