PouYuen Vietnam Footwear Company did not renew the contract with 2,500 employees in March

PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. will not continue to sign contracts with 2,500 workers in March 2023. The company will coordinate with the grassroots trade union for contract termination and benefits. PouYuen belongs to Taiwan Pouchen Int. Group, located in Tan Tao Ward, Binh Tan District, with 50,563 employees (At one point, workers numbered 100,000 people). Imported clothing and footwear: Canada could have a new forced labor law on the books as soon as this summer

The bill, known as S-211, would require most companies operating in the country to publicly disclose what they are doing to prevent and reduce the risk of forced and child labor in their supply chains. It zipped past the country’s Senate in November and is currently awaiting approval in the House of Commons. If passed, it will go into force in 2024.
