It is the latest project in the ecological field that the administration led by Mayor Fabrizio Bertolaso has put in place to reduce waste destined for disposal in landfills through the enhancement of different recyclable materials.
Running shoes, tennis shoes, basketball shoes, sneakers and in general shoes with rubber soles, through a process of separation and processing, will be transformed into secondary raw material useful for the production of anti-trauma flooring for playgrounds, play centers, schools or for the construction of athletics tracks.
To take care of the collection and processing will be Eso, a company specialized in the sector. "The service will also allow savings for citizens – explains the councilor for Ecology Marco Montresor – because they will be able to avoid throwing old shoes into the undifferentiated dry, which in our collection service provides for a payment for each contribution".
