EIB Vice-President Vigliotti: productive investment needed to meet the green and digital challenge
According to Gelsomina Vigliotti, Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the EU needs to refocus on productive investment to meet challenges such as digitalisation and the green transition. In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Vigliotti pointed out that the EU risks falling behind the United States and China in terms of innovation, especially in the digital and environmental sectors.
This is why it becomes important to create an ecosystem that is favourable to innovation and entrepreneurship, supporting new companies through subsidies, capital investment and consultancy.
In Italy, then, the EIB vice-president noted progress in the digitalisation of businesses, but there is still ground to make up in the ecological transition. Italian companies would need support, especially for the significant investments required for green innovation. [Source: Corriere della Sera].
