Austrade has signed a MoU with India for vocational education and training programmes

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) has signed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Leather Sector Skill Council. Austrade is backed by the government of Australia to boost international trade promotion and investments.

The MoU would be implemented through the Future Skills Initiative team in Austrade India, a press release said.

"We are pleased to partner with the Leather Sector Skill Council in our journey towards skilling the leather workforce in India. The training programme is cutting-edge and will be implemented in line with the skilling, learning, assessment and employment objectives of the Indian workforce," said Austrade Commissioner Leo Bremanis said.

The Austrade Future Skills initiative and the Leather Sector Skill Council are collaborating on programmes to introduce Australian skills and competencies in the leather sector with focus on sustainability, net zero, industry 4.0 and augmented reality and other applications.

CEO of Leather Sector Skill Council Rajesh Ratnam represented the leather industry in the signing of the MoU, the release said.
