According to data published by the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC), in the second quarter of 2022  electronic sales of footwear and leather goods recorded a turnover of €137.8 million in Spain, +10.8% compared to Q2 of 2021.  Compared to the same period in 2020, with stores closed for Covid-19, we see that the value of sales is only 0.2% lower. On the other hand, volume decreased by 13.4% compared to the second quarter of 2020. [La inflación dispara el valor de las ventas de calzado en internet - revistadelcalzado.com]

Online sales of footwear and leather goods in Spain remain at one of the highest levels ever reached, just below the turnover recorded in 2020. Except for the data of the second quarter of 2020, in which there were record numbers  in online commerce  in Spain, the months between April and June 2022 were the best for e-commerce.

However, these figures are distorted by the strong price inflation recorded in 2022, which increased the value of sales despite the number of transactions being lower.

In total, the e-commerce of footwear and leather products produced in Spain between April and June 2022 recorded just under 1.7 million transactions. The number of transactions increased by 9.5% compared to April-June 2021, while it decreased by 13.4% compared to the second quarter of 2020.

The average value of each purchase of footwear and leather goods on the internet in the second quarter of 2022 was over 82.7 euros.
