Focus on Asia’s fashion capitals for Italian brands

Over 70 Italian footwear and leather goods brands traveled to Asia at the beginning of February to participate in events in Seoul and Tokyo (APLF@APLFHK). Italian companies used the events to show Asian buyers their collections for autumn-winter 2023-2024. The Italian Fashion Days took place  in Seoul from 1 to 3 February, followed by Shoes From Italy and Moda Italia in Tokyo from 7 to 9 February.

 

 

About 1000 buyers and visitors visited the Italian fashion days in Korea, an exhibition project that, from the first to the third of February, within the spaces of S-factory in Seoul, turned the spotlight on the new collections of 71 Italian brands.

 

In Tokyo the restart of the fairs 'Moda Italia' and 'Shoes From Italy'. Attendance at pre-Covid levels, success with 120 companies.

Public success with the hoped-for return of face-to-face visits to the Belle Salle Shibuya Garden, in the center of Tokyo, for the long-awaited fairs of 'Moda Italia' and 'Shoes from Italy', now in their 61st and 71st editions, respectively.

The event organized by ICE - Agency for the Promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies, was attended by 120 companies from 12 Italian regions with their collections for the Fall/Winter 2023-24 season.

 

With a share of 2.99%, Italy is the seventh largest exporter of clothing to Japan after China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar and Indonesia.

Among Western countries, Italy occupies the first position, far behind Romania (11th place) and France (12th place), all with a percentage share of around 0.5%. For leather goods, Italy is Japan's second largest supplier with a share of 20.7%. Our country ranks after China, whose imports recorded an increase of 28.9% while those of Italy increased in value by 33.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. Finally, in leather footwear, Italian dominance is absolute with an import share of 33.7%, with a growth of 43.3% in 2022 compared to the same period of the previous year.
