The reading of Assintecal, which is headquartered in Novo Hamburgo, is that there is an “adjustment” in the market for chemicals and components. “China, after the restrictions caused by the Covid-19 policy, returned with an appetite to the market, regularizing trade flows, including freight, which were very high”, evaluates the entity’s International Market manager, Luiz Ribas Júnior.

The second main market for the sector, Argentina, suffered from the impacts of the restriction on import payments, which according to the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) can be carried out in up to 180 days. “Exporters, especially smaller ones, are not able to receive just 6 months after the deal is concluded. Therefore, many are reducing or even abandoning that market”, laments Ribas Júnior.

Main destination for exports in the sector, in January China imported the equivalent of US$ 4 million in Brazilian components and chemicals, 263% less than in January 2022.

Next, Colombia (US$ 772.34 thousand, a 9% increase compared to 2022) and Bolivia (US$ 620.64 thousand, a 3% increase compared to last year) appeared as the main destinations.

The main exporter of components and chemicals in January was Rio Grande do Sul, from which the equivalent of US$ 13 million departed, 62% less than in the same month of 2022.
